Short answer
Yes. Once you claim a free game on the Epic Games Store, it stays in your library after the promotion ends, and you can download and play it any time. You don't need to install it during the free week; clicking Get and placing the $0.00 order is enough. The only ways to lose it are losing the account itself: deleting your Epic account, or a ban for breaking Epic's terms. Free to claim on Epic right now: Sorry We're Closed until Thu Nov 5, 10:00 AM CT (11:00 AM ET / 8:00 AM PT); Gladiator: Blades of Fury, Balloon Strike, Epic World - Hunt For Quest, Quiztopia: The Ultimate Trivia, Highway Driving, Dark Mystery, Horse Racing, Funtoon's World, Horror Adventure, Math Fun, Maze - The Amazing Labyrinth, Mountain Racing, Super Kids Racing - Mini Edition until Sun Nov 8, 12:30 PM CT (1:30 PM ET / 10:30 AM PT).
Updated . Free games pulled from Epic's own free games list.
✅ What Epic says
- "It remains in your library to play" even after the game is no longer free for new customers, per Epic's Store FAQ (Epic Games Store FAQ).
- It's a license, like any purchase. Epic's FAQ says that once you claim a free game "you've purchased a digital license for it", the same as a game you paid for.
- Miss the window and it's gone. Epic's help center says you must claim within the promotion period. A game you didn't claim goes back to full price (Epic help).
📥 Do you have to download it?
- No. Claiming is what counts. Click Get, then Place Order at $0.00, and the game is in your library.
- Install it next week or in five years from the Library tab of the Epic Games Launcher.
- To check a claim, look for the game in your Library, or under Transactions in your Epic account settings.
Step-by-step: how to claim free Epic games.
⚠️ When you could lose a free game
- Deleting your Epic account. Epic says deletion removes all purchases and items on the account. You get 14 days to change your mind by logging back in (Epic help).
- A ban or account sharing. Epic's Terms of Service say sharing an account, fraud or cheating can get it suspended or terminated, and with it your access to games (Epic Terms).
- Claiming on the wrong account. The most common "my free games disappeared" problem. Epic says logging in with the Google button creates a separate account from typing your @gmail.com address and password, and console logins (PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo) can create another. Use the same login every week.

FAQ
Do you keep free Epic games forever?
Yes. Once you claim a free game on the Epic Games Store, it stays in your library after the promotion ends, and you can download and play it any time. You don't need to install it during the free week; clicking Get and placing the $0.00 order is enough. Are Epic's free games a free trial?
No. They aren't trials or time-limited demos. A game Epic gives away is free to keep: claim it before the promotion ends and it stays in your library for good, with no subscription and no time limit on playing it. Epic's FAQ treats these separately from free trials such as a Free Weekend, where you lose access to the game when the trial ends.
Do I have to download a free Epic game to keep it?
No. You only have to claim it (Get, then Place Order at $0.00) before the promotion ends. You can download it from your Epic library any time later.
Can Epic take back a free game?
Not for ending the promotion. Epic's FAQ says a claimed free game stays in your library. You'd only lose it if your account is deleted or banned under Epic's Terms of Service.
Why did my free Epic games disappear?
Usually because you're signed in to a different Epic account. Logging in with the Google button and logging in with your Gmail address and password create two separate accounts, and console logins can create another.
Can I get a free Epic game after the promotion ends?
No. Epic says it must be claimed within the promotion period. New free games arrive every Thursday at 10:00 AM CT (11:00 AM ET), and FreeGG's daily email tells you what's free and when it ends.
