Are Prime Gaming games free to keep?

Yes, once you claim them. Prime Gaming's free PC games (now on Amazon Luna) stay in your library even after you cancel Prime. The catch: you need a paid Prime membership to claim them. Here's how claiming works on each store, what's free with Prime this month (DOOM (2016), Five Nights at Freddy's: Into the Pit, Conarium, Vampire: The Masquerade - Swansong…), and what you can get free with no subscription at all.

Updated . We check every morning.

Short answer

Yes. A PC game you claim with Prime (Prime Gaming, now part of Amazon Luna) is yours to keep, even if you cancel Prime later. Amazon's FAQ says you can still download and play games you already claimed; you only need an active Prime membership to claim new ones. But they aren't free to everyone: you need a paid Prime membership to claim them. Truly free-to-keep games with no subscription come from Epic, Steam, GOG and itch.io giveaways.

📦 What "free with Prime" actually means

  • Prime Gaming is now part of Amazon Luna. Since Amazon relaunched Luna on Oct 23, 2025, the monthly free PC games live on Luna's claims page (luna.amazon.com/claims). Amazon says Prime members everywhere Prime is available can still claim a rotating set of downloadable PC games each month (Amazon Luna FAQ).
  • Two different things share the name. The claimable PC games are downloads you keep. The Luna cloud library (Fortnite, Hogwarts Legacy and others streamed in 14 countries) is only playable while you have Prime or Luna Premium. You don't keep those.
  • You keep what you claim. The Prime Gaming FAQ says: "You will still be able to download and play your games included with Prime you have previously claimed. If you would like to claim new games, you will need to have an active Prime membership."
  • It isn't a no-strings giveaway. Prime is a paid membership. If you don't have Prime, every game on FreeGG's list below is free to keep with just a free store account.

🛠️ How to claim a Prime game on PC

  1. Go to luna.amazon.com/claims/home and sign in with the Amazon account that has Prime. Claiming works in a desktop or phone browser.
  2. Pick a game and check which store it redeems on. Each card says where: GOG, Epic Games Store, Legacy Games or the Amazon Games app.
  3. GOG: click Get game to reveal a code, then redeem it at gog.com/redeem (or in GOG Galaxy) on your GOG account (GOG Support). Codes have their own expiry date, so redeem it soon.
  4. Epic: link your Epic account once when asked; the game is then added to that Epic library. Check you linked the account you actually use (game not showing in your Epic library?).
  5. Legacy Games: copy the code, enter it with your email on Legacy's redeem page, then sign in to the Legacy Games Launcher with that same email.
  6. Amazon Games app: install the app, sign in with your Prime account and install from your library.

⏰ Tips so you don't lose one

  • Claim and redeem in the same sitting. A GOG or Legacy code you revealed but never redeemed can expire.
  • Missed the window? Same as Epic: once it ends you can't claim it for free (missed a free game?).
  • Already have the game on GOG or Epic? Claiming again won't give you a second copy, so skip it.
  • Cancelling Prime? Claim and redeem everything you want first. Games already in your GOG, Epic or Legacy library stay there.

FAQ

Do you keep Prime Gaming games after cancelling Prime?

Yes. Amazon's Prime Gaming FAQ says you can still download and play games included with Prime that you previously claimed. You only need an active Prime membership to claim new games.

Is Prime Gaming the same as Amazon Luna now?

Mostly. Since Amazon relaunched Luna on October 23, 2025, Prime's monthly free PC games are claimed on Luna's claims page (luna.amazon.com/claims/home). Luna also streams a cloud library to Prime members in 14 countries, but you don't keep those streaming games.

Are Prime Gaming games really free?

They cost nothing extra if you already pay for Amazon Prime, but you need Prime to claim them. Games from Epic's weekly giveaway, Steam 100% off promotions, GOG giveaways and itch.io sales are free to keep with just a free account.

Where do Prime Gaming games go after I claim them?

It depends on the game: GOG games come as a code you redeem on GOG, Epic games go to your linked Epic account, Legacy Games titles use a code on Legacy's redeem page, and others install through the Amazon Games app.

How often do new free games come to Prime?

Amazon rotates a new selection of downloadable PC games each month, and individual games have their own claim-by dates, so some leave within days and others stay for weeks.
